This amazing property with year round creek, elk hunting authorizations, privacy, unique features including a small waterfall, sandstone rock formations, tip top views of Mt. Taylor, arroyos, sagebrush, exploring, recreation, camping, and other abundant possibilities for development, is on the market with owner financing available. This acreage is shown to be in Cibola County (as a result of a computer programming result) because the nearest town to the property is San Mateo which is in Cibola County. The acreage is located in McKinley County. Because the issue of legal right of access is important to the value of acreage, this may be resolved by a legal action to be completed within about six months, and once completed there will not be any reference to it here. With a phone call I can explain it to you, or check back in several months to see whether there is no more reference to it.

Directions

Exit Interstate 40 at the Milan exit west of Grants. Go west on Old Route 66 and turn north (right) onto highway 605 to San Mateo. From San Mateo take the Lee Ranch Mine Highway north (left). Turn right (north) before crossing the Chico Wash Arroyo onto the gravel road (not marked). (These next directions will not be sufficient for anyone unfamiliar with this route.) Proceed north on the main gravel road, Chico Wash Road or whatever road the various numbers which may be assigned to it indicate on maps, as it is not marked, about 18 miles. Turn left (west) at an unmarked spot (except for a No Hunting etc. Fernandez Co. sign) and proceed on that marginal road about 3 miles if you understand these are only directions to the acreage, not advice on what to do or what not to do. There are no forks in this road which is not maintained and not so visible in spots except for the usual deep ruts which require a four wheel drive vehicle or motorbike. About halfway to the acreage you will pass the Gonzales Tank, a pond, on your right. The marginal road turns from a west direction to north and crosses the acreage going north. There is an old broken down corral to your left (west) on the acreage. If you proceed further north and cross the Arroyo Chico Wash you will have passed beyond the northern boundary of the acreage after crossing the creek. The southern boundary of the acreage is a half mile to your south at this point and you will have driven through the acreage coming from the south and east at the Chico Wash Road. There are GPS coordinates which can be useful for making the turn off the Chico Wash Arroyo, or if you know the route well, you can make that turn before passing north between rock formations to the east and west of the road. It's possible to have this route memorized after three times. (Again, these are only driving directions, not advice on what to do or not to do.) There are not better written driving directions than these to my knowledge, so if you plan to use these directions by attempting to drive to the acreage, please be accompanied by someone who knows the route well. And if you believe you need permission, get it. The nearest neighbor of any dwelling in the area from the acreage is about 8 miles driving distance to the best of my knowledge.
